About
Jane Summers is an internationally awarded artist and creative collaborator from Australia. Jane graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Sydney College of the Arts in 1993.
In 1995, Jane won the Lord Leighton Prize and exhibited at the Ice house Gallery in Holland Park, London and went on to attend a Master Class with Eduardo Paolozzi at the Edinburgh College of Fine Art. Jane has exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea 5 times through a number of SXS invitations and commissions from 1999 to 2004. Jane received 1st Class Honors in 1999 and was awarded the Freedman Foundation Traveling Scholarship in 2000. As part of her Masters research Jane studied in Paris in the Atelier of British sculptor Richard Deacon at L’Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux Artes. She received her Master of Visual Arts from Sydney University in 2005.
Along with her own artistic pursuits and body of work, Jane has collaborated on many projects that span architecture, landscape design, films and commercials, performance and the visual arts. Jane has worked in China on large concept urban and landscape designs and consulted on the Emerati Family Fountain Project for Dubai. In 2007, Jane and Kylie Legge of then Village Well collaborated on an interactive wall sculpture for one of Australia's largest telecommunication companies, Optus, for the Public Realm Project.
Jane has taught sculpture foundation studies and been on the Contempo board at the Art Gallery of NSW.
